All Homes are staffed on a 24/7 basis in ratios of staff: residents approved by the Care Quality Commission and Hertfordshire County Council Contracts Unit.
The Company philosophy of “person centred care” is reinforced by a six week induction programme and an extensive training programme which is participated in by all staff members, including kitchen and domestic. All Managers, Deputy Managers and Assistant Managers hold extensive certification ranging from Registered General Nurse, Social Care, and Management courses. They are qualified trainers and all have extensive experience of nursing and/or care home management. Training for all staff includes all mandatory subjects such as Health & Safety, Fire Safety, Food Hygiene, Manual Handling, First Aid, Dementia Awareness, End of Life Care, and many more, and training is carried out by in-house and outside trainers. Many staff also hold NVQ certification, Levels II and III and upward, in health and social care.
An important part of training is to encourage and promote caring, patient attitudes in our staff whose primary role is providing good care to Service Users. We encourage flexibility in work systems and a cheerful, polite and understanding approach. A friendly person-oriented attitude is encouraged, whilst retaining professional standards at all times. All Homes operate a ‘knock and wait’ policy whereby staff always knock on a Service User’s door and wait to be invited in.
Staff are also trained in our philosophy which aims to up-hold the basic rights of each of our Service Users:
